Research and Clinical Interests: My research interests are
primarily in microbial ecological
diseases, an emerging concept that
attributes the cause of some idiopathic diseases to the alteration of commensal microbiota. One
project in my laboratory explores the role of bacterial biota in the development of esophageal
adenocarcinoma in reflux-related disorders (UH2CA140233). Another project relates to the role
of
bacterial metacolonies in the etiology of idiopathic tonsillar hypertrophy (R01AI063477).
